Apply for a Canadian account in 3 easy steps

Scotiabank has partnered with China Everbright Bank, the Bank of Beijing, and the Bank of Xi'an. You can use these partner banks to apply for a bank account and make one transfer of up to $50,000 CAD before you move.

Step 1: Visit a partner bank in China and complete the application

Visit China Everbright Bank, the Bank of Beijing or the Bank of Xi'an to complete the application for a Scotiabank bank account.

Be sure to bring your Canadian Visa/Landing Document Number IMM 1000, IMM 1442 or IMM 5292/ 5688 and another piece of acceptable identification.

Step 2: Transfer your money

Once you receive your Welcome Package (sent to you via your Partner Bank) you can make one transfer of up to $50,000 CAD per customer into your new bank account.

Step 3: Activate your new account in Canada

Either before or as soon as you arrive in Canada, contact your preferred Scotiabank branch to make an appointment to activate your account.

When you visit the branch bring your Canadian Visa/Landing Document Number Form IMM 1000, IMM 1442 or IMM 5292/5688 and another piece of acceptable identification.
