    The security questions and answers provide an extra layer of security to further authenticate your identity when you sign on to Scotia OnLine© Financial Services.
    This added security feature will further minimize the risk of potential unauthorized access to your personal and financial information.

    No, it is mandatory for Scotia OnLine customers to set up security questions and answers..

    No, your Scotia OnLine sign-on password and Access Code will stay the same.

  4. How do I set up my security questions and answers?
    Setting up your security questions and answers is a simple two-step process that takes only a few minutes to complete.
    Step 1:
    Choose 5 personal security questions and their corresponding unique answers.
    Step 2:
    Register up to ten personal computers so that our system will recognize that you will be signing on to Scotia OnLine from a valid location.

  5. What do you mean by 'registered computer'?
    A computer that has been registered in our system has a unique identifier assigned to it that is recognized only by our security protocols. Registering the computer eliminates the need to answer the security questions you've selected every time you sign-on to Scotia OnLine. We recommend that you only register computers that you use most frequently and do not register public computers.

  6. Can I access my accounts from different computers?
    Yes, you can sign-on to Scotia OnLine from any computer. However, if the computer you are using is not registered, you will be prompted one of your secret security questions before you can access your online banking or brokerage services.

  7. I registered my computer, so why did I have to answer a security question when I signed on to Scotia OnLine?
    This could happen for the following reasons:
    1. You might have deleted the "cookie" on the computer that you registered when you set up your security questions and answers.
    2. You are only allowed to register up to a maximum of ten computers. If you register an eleventh computer, we will automatically de-register the computer that has not been used to log into Scotia OnLine for the longest period of time.
    3. You are signing into Scotia OnLine on the computer that you registered when you set up your security questions and answers, but you are using a different browser.
  8. Why do I need to answer a security question ?
    You are being asked to answer a security question for any of the following reasons:
    1. You may be signing on from a computer that our system does not recognize and to verify your identity you are required to answer any of the questions you selected when you set up your security questions and answers.
    2. You might have deleted the "cookie" on the computer that you registered when you set up your security questions and answers.
    3. You may be signing on with the computer that you registered when you set up your security questions and answers, but you are using a different browser.
    4. You are only allowed to register up to a maximum of ten computers or browsers. If you choose to register an eleventh computer/browser, we will automatically de-register the computer that has not been used to log into Scotia OnLine for the longest period of time.
    This is part of our enhanced level of security to prevent unauthorized access to your account and confidential information.

    You can register up to a maximum of ten computers/browsers. If you choose to register an eleventh computer/browser, we will automatically de-register the computer/browser that has not been used to log into Scotia OnLine for the longest period of time.

    Yes, there is no limit to the number of people who can sign-on to Scotia OnLine from the same computer.
