On February 2008, Scotiabank expanded its operations in Guatemala by acquiring Banco de Antigua and increased our equity with an investment of US$18.7 Million, turning it into a more solid institution with higher expansion opportunities. This will allow Banco de Antigua to generate support for other productive sectors in the country oriented to micro credits. In addition, US$3.5 Million was invested in the update of our technological platform as well as in our personnel training.
