On May 17, 2018, Scotiabank announced a partnership with Canadian not-for-profit, FitSpirit. This one million dollar-commitment to girls across Ontario and Quebec help them rediscover their love of physical activity through fun challenges and programs that foster an empowerment environment.
FitSpirit, founded in 2007 by Claudine Labelle has been partnering with schools and community organizations to provide activities for girls aged 12 to 17 years that get them moving and keep them physically active over the long term.
FitSpirit was brought about on the struggles that young women face during their teen years on remaining in sports and keeping active. With FitSpirit, they understand the importance of their physical and mental wellbeing of girls and provide school-based running programs, motivational speaker events and student-run charitable fundraisers to encourage girls to push their limits while having fun being active.
