Meet Rui

My name is Rui and I'm a second year student in University of Toronto. My area of study is Management and Information Technology. I'm a Quality Assurance tester for Information Technology and Solutions department, so my role is to find all the defects in the application and send them back to the programmers.

The project that my teammates and I are working on is designed to improve the efficiencies among the personal bankers in the retail branches. I feel it is a very meaningful project for me because it's a large project that will affect all the branches across Canada.

This is a very collaborative work environment - they treat me with respect. It feels like a family. Whenever I am having any problems, I can just go to my teammates and ask for help. Sometimes my teammates may have some problem and they will approach me. This work term aligns with my areas of study. My job is very dynamic and diverse so all of the training is done on the job.

Interacting with other co-ops allows me to learn more about the opportunities that are out there. I also learn about myself like what Im interested in and what do I really want to do four years down the road after I graduate. I really like my co-op term here because my colleagues are great, the job is meaningful and that makes a perfect work term experience for me.
