How do I register for Internet Banking?
Registering for Scotia OnLine® is easy. Once you are registered you can make your accounts accessible through Scotia OnLine.

Why is my bank account no longer offered? How does this change affect me?
Scotiabank is offering new accounts in order to meet the evolving needs of our customers. Rest assured, if you have an existing account with Scotiabank you can continue to use it as you have always done.

You are also free to switch to one of our new accounts, if one of them better meets your needs. Just speak to a Scotiabank representative and they would be happy to help you.

What is the difference between an Everyday Bank account and a Savings Account?
Basic Bank Accounts help you take care of your daily banking needs such as make withdrawals, deposits, transfers, pay bills, do Debit Point of Sale (POS) transactions and write cheques. Overdraft protection is also available to help manage your monthly cash flow. You can bank any way you want; in person, at an ATM, online or by telephone.

A Savings Account helps you save for your goals  a new home, a car, your childrens education. These accounts pay you interest at a competitive rate so your savings can grow. And when you save regularly in one of these accounts through an Automatic Savings Plan, you can receive bonus interest on your contributions.

Can I pay my bills through my Basic account?
Absolutely. You can choose to pay your bills at the branch, through the ATM, Online or via telephone banking.

What is Electronic Banking?
Electronic Banking (also known as Self-Service Banking) allows customers to bank through the Internet, Mobile, Point of Sale (POS), Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and telephone (where available). The new Electronic Access Account allows you to do an unlimited number of electronic banking transactions for one low monthly fee. You just pay a fee if and when you visit a teller at the branch or write a cheque.

Can I switch from my existing account into one of these new products?
Of course you can switch your existing account to any of our new products! Its free to switch to one of our new accounts, if one of them better meets your needs. Just speak to a Scotiabank representative and they would be happy to help you.

Why do you charge a monthly fee?
The monthly fee covers the costs associated with operating your account.

How is interest calculated?
Interest on our Savings Account is calculated based on the daily closing balance in your account and is paid monthly. For further inquires about specific interest rates contact your local Scotiabank branch.

How do I register for online banking?

What is an ASP/SSRP1?
An Automatic Savings Plan (ASP) is a way to steadily grow your savings over time. It allows you to Pay Yourself First. Through the ASP, a set amount is transferred at selected dates to your destination account. There is no charge to set up an ASP on a Scotiabank account and the amount of the ASP contributions can be changed at any time.

The Scotiabank Savings Reward Plan (SSRP) rewards customers with bonus interest1 when they save regularly through an ASP. The bonus interest is based on your ASP contributions over a 1 year term and this is over and above our already competitive rate of interest4 earned on the account. The SSRP is only available on the Savings Builder account. Please speak to your Scotiabank representative for details.

For the Scotiabank Be Money  Electronic Account, what classifies as proof of registration/enrollment?
If you are a student who is enrolled or registered in full time a post secondary education program, the monthly fee for your Scotiabank Be Money - Electronic will be waived. Proof of registration/enrollment must be provided at the time the account is being opened. This can include an official letter of acceptance into the program, or a copy of a students timetable showing they are enrolled at the institution (including the name of the institution and students name).
