Scotiabank Bahamas rallies for Haiti Relief
Nassau, Bahamas, January 2010 Following the catastrophic earthquake on January 12th, 2010, Scotiabank designated Friday, January 15, 2010 as Help for Haiti Day and officially opened the Haiti Relief Fund to the public.
Scotiabank also organized a Coins for Haiti drive in conjunction with the Bahamian Radio stations 100 Jamz Cool 96, Y98.7 and Joy FM. The radio stations held 12 hour remote broadcasts and raised $61,200 BSD in one day in the Coins for Haiti Drive. In total $96,589.21 BSD were donated to The Bahamas Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund to assist in providing food, tents, water and other essentials to the victims of the earthquake.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Haiti and the Haitian-Bahamian community during this extremely difficult period said Barry Malcolm, Managing Director, Scotiabank Bahamas. We are pleased to support the Red Cross in their efforts to provide this much needed assistance to our Haitian brothers and sisters.
