Scotiabank is proud to maintain branch operations in Barbados, where it has operated for 50 years.
Scotiabank opened its first Barbados branch in Bridgetown in 1956. Retail banking expanded in the late 1960s, with the addition of two more branches. Activity in the branches in Barbados reflected the economic growth of the country and was heavily centered on Tourism. Business continued to grow during the 1970s and, by 2002, eight branches had been established.
With eight branches throughout the country, Scotiabank offers a complete range of retail, commercial banking, including electronic cash management and offshore banking services. The Bank has about 300 employees here, plus 20 ATMs. In 2003, Scotiabank introduced Internet banking in Barbados.
Our Offshore Banking Unit has three employees in one branch office, offering financial services to offshore international business corporations such as loans, letters of credit and interest-bearing deposits.
A strong supporter of various community initiatives, Scotiabank Barbados contributions range from sports causes, to education and arts and culture.
