The 2007-2008 Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket season started with an opening ceremony held on the Ronald Websters Park on 19th September 2007. Mr. Cardigan Connor, representative of the W.I.C.B. hosted the session. The ceremony was held to explain to the primary schools what activities and programs they would be engaged in for the year. Mr. Ralph Hodge (President Cricket Association) gave the opening remarks firstly, thanking Scotiabank for their sponsorship of the program. He also stated that a tree starts from a root so the initiative of cricket for the kids of Anguilla is well appreciated.
 
Representatives from the education department also thanked Scotiabank for continued sponsorship and look forward to the upcoming season. Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket co-ordinator Valdez Johnson conveyed how proud SCOTIABANK ANGUILLA LTD is for sponsoring such a program and now in its fifth year is a great achievement. “Why Cricket”? “Cricket instills discipline, builds character, encourages good conduct, and fair play, some of the qualities that would play an important part in a child’s development.” said Mr. Johnson.
The principals and kids invited were presented with cricket kits and cricket paraphernalia for the year by Omari Banks, John Martin (Physical education teacher) and Alkin Rogers (Sports Director). The session closed with a vote of thank by Mr. Rawlins Richardson (Program Officer Dept. of Sports).
